The Oldtown, surrounding the Schlossberg (castle hill), offers many sights to visit; anything from historical buildings, to museums and galleries and of course the Graz castle, sitting on the top of the hill. You can access the castle either by taking the Schlossbergbahn (train) or the elevator taking you to the top. The famous Glockenspiel, the tower clock, plays three times a day, at 11 am, 3 pm and 6 pm. The spacious city park is spread out on the north side of the hill, accessible either from the Old town or from Glacisstrasse. If you have time, walking through all traces will take you nearly 4 hours. Otherwise relax in one of the two following cafés, Café Promenade or Café Parkhaus.

The city transport is convenient. The tram can take you through the old town. Be sure to use the free travel zone card which lets you enjoy the tram ride for free for certain stops. Otherwise tickets available with the bus driver, at tobacco shops, ticket machines or they can be ordered online.

Even though Graz has its own airport, it's best to fly to Vienna and then either take a train, bus or rent a car.
