Birmingham, the second largest city in the UK, is an industrial city in the heart of England and due to its favorable geographic location an important transport hub. Birmingham is known especially for sports fans, as the concept of pan-European football leagues and tennis has been born.
Start at the Victorian Square, right in the center of the city, with remarkable town hall from 1832, a pearl of Victorian architecture. Built in the style of a Roman temple with 40 decorated Corinthian columns, the townhall is nowadays the main venue of the Birmingham's music scene. Spend sunny day in one of many landscaped English parks, such as Cannon Hill Park in Edgbaston (two playgrounds, cafe and other kid's activities), the botanical gardens (with admission) or Warley Woods outdoor playground. During rainy days visit children's department and cafe in Waterstones bookshop, Rush trampoline park (for older children) or get some splash in Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre with baby pool and wave machine.
Another place to visit is the Cadbury World, one of the most popular attractions in the region that unveils the history of chocolate and its production through many interactive exhibits. The unique attraction of Birmingham is the largest inland aquarium in the UK's National Sea Life Center.
Urban public transport is at a very good level, provided by a dense network of suburban trains, trams and buses. The international airport has regular train connection with the city center as well as with London (Euston). Multiple bus lines will take you to the city center (97 and 97A operating 24/7) with tickets purchased on the bus service.
