Creating an account & username

How do I create a baby city guide account?

Baby City Guide is a responsive web tool that is accessible through your device internet or wi-fi connection.

To create an Baby City Guide account from a computer:
Go to http://www.babycityguide.com.

Enter your email address, create a username and password or click Log in with Facebook or Google to sign up with your Facebook or Google accounts.

If you register with an email, click Sign up. If you register with Facebook or Google accounts, you'll be prompted to log into your Facebook or Google account if you're currently logged out.

If you sign up with email, make sure you enter your email address correctly and choose an email address that only you can access. If you log out and forget your password, you'll need to be able to access your email to get back into your Baby City Guide account.

How do I update profile information like my name, username and email?

To update your profile information, including your username and the email address associated with your account:

  • Go to your profile by clicking on My Account on the top menu bar
  • Tap Edit Profile
  • Type in your new name, username, website, bio or private information, then tap Done or Save in the top right

What can I do if a username is already claimed but seems inactive?

If a username you want is being used by an account that seems inactive, you can choose an available version of the username to use on Baby City Guide. You can add periods, numbers, underscores or abbreviations to help you come up with a username that's not already in use.

To change you username, you can edit your profile as per 1.2.

What's Baby City Guide's inactive username policy?

We encourage people to log in and use Baby City Guide once they create a Member’s account. To keep your account active, be sure to log in and share reviews on the cities and places visited, as well as comment on photos. Member’s accounts may be permanently removed due to prolonged inactivity.

What if an account is using my registered trademark as its username?

Trademark violations may involve using a company or business name, logo or other trademark-protected materials in a manner that may mislead or confuse others with regard to its brand or business affiliation.

What is not a violation?

Using another's trademark in a way that has nothing to do with the product or service for which the trademark was granted is not a violation of Baby City Guide's trademark policy. Note that Baby City Guide usernames are provided on a first-come, first-served basis and may not be reserved.

I received an email that I created a new Baby City Guide account, but I didn’t sign up for a new account.

Most likely, someone tried to sign up for an Baby City Guide account using your email address by mistake. To remove your email from the account:

  • If you have an Baby City Guide account, log out. Before logging out, make sure the you have access to the email address currently associated with your account. If you don't have an Baby City Guide account, skip to step 2.
  • Click Contact us at the bottom of the Welcome to Baby City Guide email to let us know this wasn't you.

I can't sign up for an account because an account with my email address or phone number already exists

If you signed up for Baby City Guide with your email address or phone number but you can't remember your password, you can reset your password and log into your account.

If you've typed your email address or phone number correctly and see a message that an account with your email address or phone number already exists, let us know.

Keep in mind that an email address can only be associated with one Baby City Guide account.

Privacy Settings

Who can like or comment on my contribution (both text and photos)?

Once you submit your review or comment, and after a review process by the Baby City Guide team, any user can view your contribution although only registered members can like or comment on it.

What happens if I share my post to another social network?

If a Member, with registered Baby City Guide account, shares a photo or video to a social network (like Twitter, Facebook and so on) using Baby City Guide, the image will be visible on that network and the permalink will be active. In other words, the photo will be publicly accessible by anyone who has access to its direct link/URL.

Keep in mind that sharing a photo or video to a social network doesn't mean that the image will be visible in Baby City Guide. Your account will still appear private to those who aren't approved followers.

Who can see my contribution and/or profile on the web?

Once you publish a review, anyone from the visiting users will be able to see your posts. Your profile is automatically set semi-private, meaning only registered Members can view your profile.

How can I remove my images from Google search?

Your images may appear in Google search results if you've logged into your account using a web viewer, which authorizes them to access your profile and images. These third-party sites have been created with our API and aren't affiliated with Baby City Guide directly.

If you don't want your photos or videos to appear on Google, we suggest revoking access to the third-party website or setting your account to private. It may take some time for these sites and Google to re-index and remove the images, even if you delete your account.

Baby City Guide isn't directly associated with third-party apps that utilize our API such as web viewers, desktop apps or image printing services, and we can't assist you in speeding up the process to remove any Baby City Guide images that may appear on Google.

I can't log in

What can I do if I forgot my password?

If you can't remember your password, you can reset it using your email address, Facebook or Google account.

To reset your password, first open the Baby City Guide website. On the login screen, tap Get help signing in below Log In. Enter your email address, Facebook or Google account and click on the Send a password button below.

What can I do if I don't receive a password reset email?

If you're not receiving the password reset email, it's possible that the email is going in your email's spam filter or that you mistyped your email when you first signed up for Baby City Guide.

To find your password reset email, try:

  • Checking the spam filter on your email account
  • Resetting your password through Facebook verification if you've previously linked your Baby City Guide and Facebook or Google accounts
  • Getting in touch with your email service provider to make sure that you're able to get emails from the @Baby CityGuide.com domain
  • If you mistyped your email address when signing up for your account, we're not able to give you access to this account.

What can I do if my email address can't be found during a password reset?

If your email address isn't being found when you try to reset your password, you may have registered with a different email or mistyped your email when you first signed up.

If you're having this issue, try the following:

  • Tap Forgot? on the login screen, then tap Username or Email. Enter any possible email addresses you may have registered with and then tap Search in the top right.
  • If you've previously linked your Baby City Guide, Facebook or Google accounts, you can reset your password using your Facebook or Google account by tapping Reset using Facebook or Google.

Unfortunately, if you can't access the email account you registered with and didn't link your Baby City Guide, Facebook or Google accounts, we're unable to give you access to the account.

I'm receiving a password reset email for the wrong Baby City Guide account.

If you're receiving a password reset email for the wrong account, it's likely that the account you're trying to log into was registered with a different email address.

To regain access to the right account, try any additional email addresses you may have used. If you've linked your account to Facebook or Google, you can reset your password through Facebook or Google verification.

If you think there's an Baby City Guide account associated with your email address and you don't own that account, let us know.

What can I do if I receive a password reset email but still can't log in?

The links in the password reset emails are time sensitive. If you've received an email but still aren't able to log in, try sending yourself a password reset email again.

If you're copying the reset link or your new password, make sure you aren't including any extra spaces before pasting it into your browser or the login fields.

I can't locate my account or don't know my username.

If you aren't able to locate your account after entering your username:

  • Make sure that you're entering your username correctly, especially if it contains repeated characters
  • Don't include the @ symbol when entering your username

If you think your username was changed as a result of your account being compromised:

  • Check if you've received an email from Baby City Guide notifying you that your account information was changed
  • Ask a friend to visit your profile and take a screenshot of your current username

What can I do if I've lost access to the email I signed up with?

If you lost access to the email address you used to sign up for Baby City Guide, you can change the email address associated with your account.

If you've linked your account to Facebook or Google, you can reset your password using Facebook or Google. Once you log in, you can change the email address listed in your profile.

If you can't log into Baby City Guide because you forgot your password and can't access the email address you used to sign up, please get in touch with your email service provider to get access to that email:

If you've forgotten your password and lost access to your email account, we're unable to release the Baby City Guide account to you. This includes accounts registered with mistyped email addresses.

We understand this can be frustrating, but this policy is meant to make sure Baby City Guide accounts don't fall into the wrong hands.

I received an email that I created a new Baby City Guide account, but I didn’t sign up for a new account.

Most likely, someone tried to sign up for an Baby City Guide account using your email address by mistake. To remove your email from the account:

  • If you have an Baby City Guide account, log out. Before logging out, make sure the you have access to the email address currently associated with your account. If you don't have an Baby City Guide account, skip to step 2.
  • Click Contact us at the bottom of the Welcome to Baby City Guide email to let us know this wasn't you.

You should then be able to use this email address to sign up for an Baby City Guide account or add it to your existing account. If you're still having issues with your email or phone number, let us know..

I think my Baby City Guide account has been hacked.

If you're still able to log into your Baby City Guide account

If you think your account has been hacked and you're still able to log in, here are some things you can do to help keep your account secure:

  • Change your password or send yourself a password reset email
  • Revoke access to any suspicious third-party apps
If you're not able to log into your Baby City Guide account

If you can't access your account, you may be able to get additional help through the Baby City Guide web:

  • On the login screen, tap Get help signing in below Log In
  • Enter your email address and a short comment about your issue (not mandatory)

What can I do if my account has been disabled?

If your Baby City Guide account was disabled, you’ll see a message telling you when you try to log in. Accounts that don't follow our Community Guidelines or Terms and Conditions may be disabled without warning. We suggest that you review the Community Guidelines carefully along with the posts on all accounts you've created.

If you think your account was disabled by mistake, you may be able to appeal the decision by opening the app, entering your username and password and following the on-screen instructions.

If you don’t see a disabled message, you may be experiencing a login issue. If your account was deleted by you or someone with your password, there's no way to restore it. You can create a new account with the same email address you used before, but you may not be able to get the same username.

What is Baby City Guide?

Baby City Guide is an online platform for a community of travelling parents, who are seeking and willing to share relevant information and personal experiences while visiting cities and places all around the world. While sharing a review, Members create a content, which consists of text and uploaded photos or videos to our service. This content will be then displayed under particular City or Place and therefore visible to all users. Only registered Members can comment and like the reviews. Anyone 15 and older can create an account by registering an email address and selecting a username.

Who can see my baby’s photos?

Any visitor of the Baby City Guide platform can view photos or videos that you have uploaded together with your review or comment. We fully encourage you to use a common sense and caution when uploading photos including your family. Your profile is automatically set semi-private, meaning only registered Members can view your profile.

How can I get an image of my child removed?

Baby City Guide removes posts that aren't following our Terms and Conditions, based on laws in specific jurisdictions.

If you have an Baby City Guide account, you can report a post from within the app or fill out this form.

Keep in mind that people own the rights to all images they've taken and shared with Baby City Guide. If there's no violation of our Guidelines or Terms taking place, we can’t help you directly unless required to do so by law.

How do I report a child under the age of 15 on Baby City Guide?

Baby City Guide requires everyone to be at least 15 years old before they can create an account (in some jurisdictions, this age limit may be higher). If your child is younger than 15 and created an account on Baby City Guide, you can show them how to delete their account.

If you'd like to report an account belonging to someone under 15 or if you believe someone is impersonating your child who's under 15, please contact us. In order to delete a child's account, we'll need to verify that the child is under 15.

Why was an image that I posted of my child removed?

Baby City Guide’s purpose is to share your experiences during travels with your family. It is natural then to capture and share photos of your children. However, images that show nudity may be removed because they don't follow our Terms and Conditions.

We understand that people have different ideas about what’s okay to share on Baby City Guide and that many people share things with good intentions. To help keep Baby City Guide a fun and safe place, we require everyone to follow our Terms and Conditions and we may remove content to help keep others from possibly reusing these types of images in inappropriate ways.

How can I or my teen report abusive behavior or inappropriate/offensive material?

We ask that all people follow our Terms and Conditions. If your child encounters someone on Baby City Guide who's not following these Terms, they can report that person's posts directly from Baby City Guide.

People can report abusive behavior or posts with contacting us. This includes nude photos, abuse and excessive spam. Reporting is totally anonymous. No information about the reporter is sent to the person whose account or photo has been reported.

Please also talk to your kids and educate them about internet safety. If they're experiencing abuse from other people on Baby City Guide, contact us

It's important to note that if your child is a victim of abusive behavior on our service, we're unable to provide non-public information (like the offending person’s email address) without a search warrant or subpoena from law enforcement. It there's an emergency, we would suggest contacting your local police department. Get more information about law enforcement.

Reporting harassment or bullying on Baby City Guide.

If an account is established with the intent of bullying or harassing another person or if a photo or comment is intended to bully or harass someone, please contact us. You can also learn what to do if you think someone is pretending to be you or someone else on Baby City Guide.

Sharing a review

How do I share a review?

As a natural purpose of Baby City Guide, we encourage all visitors and users to share their experiences and knowledge about the cities and places they have visited, to help potential travelers to leverage that knowledge and foremost have fun during their journey.

To share particular city or place review, you have to create a Member account first. Once your account is created, login and then select from the City or Place review on the top menu bar. Only the City and Place names are mandatory fields.

To create a CITY review
  • Insert a City name
  • Rate your overall feeling by ticking the stars (1: lowest – 5: highest)
  • Pick the Atmosphere and Public transport attributes that best reflect your experience
  • Select the baby friendly activities you have experienced. If you wish to add a new one, type the name into the text field below
  • Select from the Landscape and Pavements options
  • Type in your own City review
  • Add your photo
  • Tick the “Save and Publish” button
To create a PLACE review
  • Insert a City name
  • Insert a Place name
  • Rate your overall feeling by ticking the stars (1: lowest – 5: highest)
  • Pick the characteristics, that would reflect the Place the most
  • Select the wished attributes
  • Let us know how to get there
  • Type in your own Place review
  • Add your photo
  • Tick the “Save and Publish” button

How do I edit my review?

All reviews will be automatically checked by the Baby City Guide team and therefore not published immediately. If you want to edit your review after submitting, please contact us.

Only as a registered Member, you will be able to like or comment on other Member’s reviews, but not edit them. You can still report a misleading information by contacting us.
