Bruneck/Brunico is a small city, located in south Tyrol on the Rienz river, close to the famous winter ski area, Kronplatz, the town offers fun for kids of all ages and interests. Kronplatz is a mountain resort in South Tyrol near the Italian town of Bolzano and Bruneck. Widely visited during winter, the Kronplatz hill top offers one rarity - the largest bell of whole Alps, 18 tons beast called Concordia 2000, which is installed on the top of Kronplatz hill and rings every day at noon. If your youngest ones are not keen on skiing, let them have fun with sled runs, snowtubing or ice skating in St. Lorenzen.
Cycling and hiking lovers will find area of Kronplatz as a paradise. Obviously, as the famous Giro d´Italia took place several times at Kronplatz. The youngest ones will enjoy horseback riding and well prepared bike paths and at the end, Reischach (Riscone) village offers a swimming pool with sauna.
Getting to Kronplatz is quite easy. Fly in to one of the international airports nearby, Milano, Zurich, Innsbruck, Munich and then either book a airport shuttle or drive by yourself (from Innsbruck - cross the Brenner Pass and take the last 30 kilometers along the classic road to Bruneck – Brunico, over which the Kronplatz ski slopes are rising) or take the train to Fortezza-Franzensfeste in South Tyrol-Südtirol. Change there for the local rail line to the Val Pusteria-Pustertal valley.
