Capital of Hungary, Budapest is one of the most visited cities in Central Europe. Sitting on the Danube river, the city is devided into two main parts, Buda, with the castle and Citadella and Pest, with the famous Parliament building on the river bank. Travelling with babies to Budapest is quite convenient. Although the city center is partly paved by cobble stones and streets are bit narrow, there are things to do with children all age at any weather.
Hungary as such is well known for its thermal spa and Budapest has a variety of places where to enjoy soothing warm springs. As the city more or less is built on bubbling ground. Over 120 hot springs pour out over 70 millions liters of hot water (26-76C) daily. Especially Szechenyi thermal bath that can be found in the City Park, close to the monument and Vajdahunyad castle, surrounded by beautiful pond. Left part of the park includes the city botanical garden, zoo and children's playground with swings and trampolines.
Getting closer to the Inner City, stop by at Szimpla, funky food market and pub and then continue to Dohany Street Synagogue, second largest in the world. Vörösmarty square is often used for various markets with local handcrafts and food stands. Cross Jozef Attila street to St. Istvan basilica and then through Liberty square to the Parliament house. Crossing Szechenyi bridge to Buda side, you may hike up to the castle, which is nice 15 minutes buggy walk (we recommend to go direction Deli Rondella, in front of which is located an elevator taking you up to the castle level. Visiting Citadella, former fortress is better by public transport or by a car that you may park near the main entrance.
