Edinburgh is a university city in Great Britain. Located in Scotland on the North Sea Coast, at Firth of Forth Bay, Edinburgh is a beautiful romantic medieval town whose history offers a number of mysterious stories. The city is also known as the city of festivals - every year, especially in the summer months, there are high quality festivals such as the International Film Festival or Edinburgh Military Tatoo, an amazing show of military drummers and armed bands of the armed forces. The royal city is characterized by a cold and windy climate.
The dominant feature of the historic city is the local castle, Arthur's Sea and Scott Monument. The Royal Mile is definitely worth a visit, it is a 1-mile old town artery, where you can find a number of restaurants and connect you with Edinburgh Castle. Nice views of the city can be found on Calton Hill.
With children it is worth visiting the Edinburgh Zoo, the Royal Botanic Garden one of various city parks (e.g. The Yard) or Georgie City Farm. There are many and many museums, such as Museum of Childhood, National Museum of Scotland or Dynamic Earth, though all are for bit older children.
Public transport in Edinburgh is convenient, the city buses have barrier-free access, so even with children in a stroller you will enjoy the ride. Perfect transport is also provided from the airport to the center by Airlink buses, that will you take from the airport directly to downtown Edinburgh, to the main station Waverly Station (the main railway station in Edinburgh and it is really directly in the city center). In all buses, you enter through the front door and either buy the ticket or show it to the driver.
