Small town located in North-East of Prague (around 1.5hr drive) in Krkonose mountains, has become one of the most popular winter holiday places for Czech ski lovers. Although you will find there lot of tourists and ski-lovers from Poland and Germany as well, this town has kept a family vibe and is ideal for both winter and summer trips. Count Harrach, who maintained his estate had a merit in growing popularity of the local cut glass both in Czechia, as well as far beyond the country borders.
With roots in 14th century, the local handmade blew and painted glass received lot of applause all around the world and the most precious pieces are still to be seen in the glass museum. The factory is the second oldest in Czechia and keeps great reputation worldwide. Activities and sights opened all year round are the mining museum, Sindelka exposition (describing local life), glass factory and museum, mini brewery or beer spa. And to let your kids roam around, visit the indoor children playground Mamutek, located between the ski areal and post office, or there is another indoor playground available only for Sporthotel Mumlava guests.
Hike to river Mumlava and it’s waterfalls, one of the largest in the Czech Republic, is ideal for both Summer (bring bikes) or Winter (bring sledges) time. Find more about Harrachov here: http://www.harrachov.cz/
