Liverpool is a city in the Northwest England, located on the eastern part of Mersey Bay. The beautiful environment of Liverpool is full of art. In addition to the closed art museums, such as the Walker Art Gallery or the Tate Gallery, many examples of modern art are installed all over Liverpool in the open air. For example, on Tithebarn Street you find Super Banana Lamb (super banana sheep), onn Hope Street, street of artists, modern statues of various shapes are installed. As key British port, you shouldn’t miss to visit one of the docks, especially the Albert dock with museums, restaurants and shops.
A visit to Liverpool would not be complete without a stroll along the Mersey River embankment. Not only has it become the object of the famous songs of Liverpool musicians, it is also currently considered one of the cleanest rivers in the UK. The Mersey Riverfront has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2004.
The oldest major buildings in the city are dated to the Tudorian era with the pride of the city, the Liverpool Cathedral (Cathedral Church of Christ in Liverpool). The monumental sanctuary is the largest Anglican cathedral in the world and #5 largest cathedral in the world (100m tall tower and 13 bells). Stroll around the Pier Head with its “Three Graces” – Royal Liver building, Cunard building and Port of Liverpool building. Beatles’ life size statue, one of the city's most visited attractions, is located right next to the Pier Head ferry terminal and if you seek for more, experience the Beatles story museum.
During sunny days, enjoy a ride on the Wheel of Liverpool, feed animals in Rice Lane city farm or relax in the Otterspool park. Hide before the rain in the Museum of Liverpool, the Mattel Play! Arena or in the Play Planet Wallasey, just across the river on the other side of the Kingsway Tunnel.
Try out a local specialty of stewed beef or beef in its own juice, which is served in a bowl with boiled carrots, potatoes and onions. Talking about Liverpool for dads, we can’t forget to mention football. Liverpool boasts two of the world's most famous and oldest football clubs, Everton FC and Liverpool FC.
All sights in the metropolitan city are within walking distance though you can still take advantage of local public transport convenient buses, trains or a taxi service. Getting from and to John Lennon’s international airport is easiest by bus. Download the Arriva App or get the Walrus card
