Are you interested in showing your kids some history? Visit La Alcazaba – Moorish fortress from 11th century that was built on remains of Phoenix palace. Malaga’s Cathedral – Catedral de la Encarnacion, also called La Manquita, was built in 16th century instead of the large Mosque. Roman Theater, Castillo de Gibralfaro and the arena are the things to do with your children in Malaga. All sights are easily reached by foot, as from the Cathedral to Alcazaba and Roman Theatre it take less than 10 minutes and then the same to Plaza de toros (arena).
Ataranzas Market, Parque de Malaga, Jardin Botanico Historico La Concepcion, Plaza Enrique García-Herrera are places that your kids will love to spend time around. But obviously there are plenty beaches to play around in Malaga. Most prominent is La Malagueta beach on the city’s waterfront (but right behind the busy main road). Some of the beaches have steep entry and you are quickly knee deep in the water, so be careful with leaving babies around on their own. Drive to beaches in El Palo, Pedregalejo, Torremolinos, La Misericordia or Los Alamos. There are nice playgrounds around the city, most visited one on the seafront, in Parque de Malaga or one in the park between Calle Cortina Del Muelle and Paseo del Parque.
Visiting Malaga with kids is recommended all year round but during especially spectacular Holy Week (Easter Holidays) or August week-long festival (third week of August), the city might be bit crowded if you’re there to enjoy relaxing holiday.
