Before WWII Nürnberg belonged to the most beautiful cities in Germany. The small Pegnitz river flows through the mostly flat city, however if you want to visit the Kaiserburg castle located in the northern part of the city, be prepared to spend some energy on the steep walk up. There are only few parks in the city. The best places for relaxing in the green are the Wöhrder Wiese located between the two arms of the river, and behind the city wall or the local ZOO.

If you visit Nürnberg during the Christmas time, do not forget to spend some time at the Christkindlesmarkt, the biggest Christmas market in Central Europe. For older children we recommend enjoying the toy museum.

There is no public transport in the city, but since the centre is so small and pedestrian only, everything can be visited on foot effortlessly.
