There is not much to visit in Varadero, except for the Delfinarium and dozens of various restaurants or pubs. If you want to experience the real Cuba, rent a car (local public transport is something you don’t want to do with small baby) and drive around the island (local roads and highways are very badly maintained).
Closest place to visit after leaving Varadero is small town called Viňales (approx.. 4hrs drive). Viňales valley, located north of the town is listed as UNESCO heritage place due to its karst landscape and agriculture (cigars) history.
