Ideal for Summer holiday hikes and adrenalin for fathers. The Kölnbreinsperre (Kölnbrein Dam) is surrounded by beautiful landscape in middle of Austrian Alps, approximately 100km south from Salzburg.
The Kölnbrein Dam is with 200m the tallest dam in Austria. The Airwalk was newly installed in 2010 and is very popular for bungee jumping and that is, unfortunately, probably the only reason you would visit this place. Arriving to the main parking place, you will be welcomed with beautiful scenery and few hiking routes. An easy walk with a buggy starts at the Berghhotel Malta (hotel, restaurant and dam exhibition), continues to Gasthaus Kölnbreinstürbel to the Jagasteighütte. All other hikes are accessible only with the baby carrier.
The dam is opened only May – October and the only way how to get there is by car through the scenic 14.3km long constructions road (toll is 13EUR).
