When you say Schönbrunn, the magnificent palace, home of beautiful empress Sisi, will immediately display in front of your eyes though the historical building is only one of the beauties of the areal. While visiting with buggy, Schönbrunn is preferably not about the emperor’s chambers but more about the aligned gardens and fountains, that are great place to visit during sunny days. You can also include the nearby Zoo, but in that case, you have to count with at least one full day visit of the whole areal.
The palace is overly busy but still accessible with buggy (few of the guided tour circles are equipped with elevators or platforms). During the busy season (June-September) there is plenty space to move around the court and gardens. On the other side, ticket office line or using the restroom will become a hellish experience. Right at the entrance and at the cashier desk are two restrooms including baby change rooms/disabled toilet, that are not cleaned properly at all, really tiny, with nervous seniors not wanting to wait the line for proper ladies/gents room. So we made sure we were out of there asap and changed the diapers in the garden when was next time needed. There is also a hidden restaurant in middle of the gardens where using the public restroom is definitely more pleasant experience.
Schönbrunn offers many special tours, some of them focused on children (not babies). Children under 6 years have free entry to every tour, adult tickets depends on the tour you pick. Trams or buses are the only public transport taking you to the castle (no metro). In case you have rented a car, there are few park houses or parking lots close to the palace, that are probably most convenient (it’s not possible to just leave your car on the street).
