Prague Zoo is one of the oldest Zoos in the world. Prague Zoo is one of the oldest Zoos in the world. Cooperating with other large zoo’s and natural parks all over the world, the main goal is not only to show animal species in their most natural environment but also to try to save and return animals to their place of origin (most famous is saving of Przewalski horses). In 2002 Prague and most of Bohemia, suffered by floods, that terribly influenced animals housed close to Vltava river (over 130 animals died). Thanks to donations and huge solidarity, the Zoo recovered quickly and became one of the top ranked in the world.
Although laying in wider city area, you will get to the Zoo easily either by car (parking is charged) or by bus (lines 112 or 236 – final station Zoo).
Babies under 3 years are for free and the Zoo offers variety of services for parents, like buggy or cart rental (free), children’s tram (10CZK), pony rides (available April – September) chairlift (babies under 6 for free but transported only on the lap of an adult) or the train (babies under 2 for free, 3-12 for 20czk, adults 30czk). The baby changing rooms are available almost at every restrooms.
